Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat has officially confirmed its television anime adaptation for January 2027, alongside the release of its first promotional video, teaser visual, main cast, and production staff.
The announcement was made by Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures, offering fans their first detailed look at the upcoming fantasy series based on Fire head’s popular light novels.
The reveal also introduced the anime’s lead voice actress and creative team ahead of its debut next year.
Anna Nagase leads the cast as Mercedes
The series will star Anna Nagase as Mercedes Grunewald, a young vampire noble who sets out to secure a better future after being born into an uncertain position within her aristocratic family.
Animation production is being handled by Studio Teddy, with Kunihisa Sugishima (Strike Witches, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Beyblade: Metal Fury) directing the series. Jun Kumagai is overseeing the series composition, Nami Shōyama is designing the characters, while R.O.N and Shūhei Mutsuki are composing the music.
The newly released promotional video offers an early glimpse of Mercedes’ journey and the fantasy world she will explore when the anime premieres in January 2027.
Published digitally in English by J-Novel Club, the story follows Mercedes after she is reincarnated as the daughter of a vampire noble and his neglected concubine. Knowing she is unlikely to inherit her father’s position, Mercedes chooses a different path by entering dangerous dungeons at a young age to support her mother and their elderly maid.
Rather than focusing solely on adventure, the series blends dungeon exploration with themes of perseverance, family, and self-improvement as Mercedes works to reshape the fate that ended her previous life.
The original web novel debuted on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2018, before TO Books began publishing the illustrated light novel series in 2021. A manga adaptation by Pochi Edoya launched the same year, with both the fifth light novel volume and sixth manga volume released on July 15, 2026.
