Kadokawa has officially announced a TV anime adaptation of My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis, the romantic comedy light novel series written by Toshimichi Uzō and illustrated by Kewi Hayashi. The announcement was made on October 3, 2026, confirming that the popular enemies-to-lovers story is moving from the page to television.
The anime will be directed by Atsushi Nigorikawa at Ankichi Kobo. Nigorikawa previously worked on A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring and Zenryoku Usagi. Keiichirō Ōchi, known for The Quintessential Quintuplets and Summer Pockets, will oversee the series scripts, while Yūki Nakano will serve as character designer.
My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis Centers on Former Rivals
The story follows Roshi Saigawa and Ritsuka Nagira, two warriors who once belonged to rival organizations and spent their lives competing against one another. Their intense rivalry takes an unexpected turn when the former enemies become married.
Instead of continuing their battles, Roshi and Ritsuka must navigate the awkward reality of married life together. However, their history does not disappear simply because they exchanged wedding vows, with old conflicts, hidden secrets and new misunderstandings continuing to complicate their relationship.

The official manga description from One Peace Books presents the series as an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy combining domestic chaos with the pair’s lingering competitive relationship. The contrast between their violent past and their attempts at ordinary married life forms the central hook of the story.
Uzō launched the original light novel series in October 2023 under Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint, with illustrations by Kewi Hayashi. The fourth volume was released in August 2025, while the fifth volume is scheduled for November 10, 2026.
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Shīme, began serialization in Dengeki Maoh in November 2024. Kadokawa released the first compiled volume in June 2025 and the second volume on July 27.
One Peace Books also licensed the manga adaptation for English release, with its first volume scheduled for March 16, 2027.
Kadokawa has released character line art alongside a new celebration illustration from Hayashi. However, the anime’s release date and additional cast details have not yet been announced.
