The release details for The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 have been officially revealed, giving fans a first look at the next chapter of Maomao’s journey. The upcoming season will premiere on October 2, 2026, with the anime returning as a split-cour production. The second part of Season 3 is scheduled to air in April 2027.
Alongside the release announcement, a new trailer and key visual have been released, confirming additional cast and staff information. Crunchyroll has also confirmed that it will stream The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 as it airs for international audiences. (Crunchyroll)
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 introduces a new character
Season 3 will feature voice actress Reina Ueda as Bai Niangniang, a mysterious woman whose appearance and condition make her an important addition to the story. The new ending theme song, titled “Kumo o Nuke Kazashimo e Watashi dake” (“Breaking Through the Clouds, Downwind, It’s Just Me”), will be performed by Yoriushika.
Akinori Fudesaka will direct the new season at animation studio OLM, with Wataru Nakagawa serving as assistant director. The creative team also includes series composer Norihiro Naganuma, writers Yuko Kakkihara, Misuzu Chiba and Hitomi Ogawa, character designer Yukiko Nakatani, and composers Satoru Kosaki, Kevin Penkin and Arisa Okehazama.

Based on the light novels written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shino, The Apothecary Diaries follows Maomao, a skilled apothecary who is forced into serving inside the emperor’s palace. After using her medical knowledge to solve mysterious illnesses affecting the royal family, she attracts the attention of palace official Jinshi and becomes involved in increasingly complex cases.
With its combination of palace intrigue, medical mysteries and Maomao’s sharp detective skills, The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 is set to continue one of the most popular fantasy mystery anime adaptations in recent years.
