Kawaki’s relationship with Naruto changes dramatically after his battle with Delta leaves him without his right arm. Instead of treating Kawaki as a weapon or a vessel, Naruto continues to see him as a person who deserves protection and a chance to build a normal life. When Kawaki receives a prosthetic arm powered by Naruto’s chakra, the replacement becomes more than a practical solution. It creates a direct chakra connection between the two, giving Kawaki another reason to understand the bond Naruto is trying to build with him.

The experience also encourages Kawaki to become Naruto’s student. Having spent much of his life under Jigen’s brutal training, Kawaki knows how to fight but lacks the traditional shinobi education that Boruto and other young ninja receive. Naruto therefore becomes an important teacher who can show Kawaki how to use chakra and ninjutsu without turning his abilities into another form of abuse.

Why Naruto Gives Kawaki His Chakra and Becomes His Teacher

Kawaki loses his arm while protecting Naruto and the Uzumaki family during the fight against Delta. Katasuke prepares a prosthetic replacement, but the arm requires Naruto’s chakra to function. Naruto willingly supplies that chakra, creating a connection that allows Kawaki to use the replacement limb while also symbolizing Naruto’s growing role in his life.

This gesture has a major emotional impact on Kawaki because he is accustomed to people using him for their own purposes. Naruto instead gives him something without demanding obedience or repayment. Kawaki begins to understand that chakra can represent a bond between people, rather than simply being a resource used for combat.

Kawaki soon asks Naruto to teach him ninjutsu, officially turning the Seventh Hokage into his teacher. Naruto’s approach is important because he understands that Kawaki needs more than combat skills. He needs to learn how to live as a shinobi and make choices for himself rather than simply following orders from people who control him.

The prosthetic arm later proves useful beyond ordinary movement because Kawaki can sense Naruto’s chakra through their connection. During the conflict with Isshiki, this bond becomes especially important and even allows Kawaki to help locate Naruto.

Naruto training Kawaki therefore serves two purposes. It helps Kawaki develop as a shinobi while strengthening the family bond that gradually makes Naruto someone Kawaki deeply wants to protect. The prosthetic arm becomes a physical representation of that relationship, connecting Kawaki to the first father figure who genuinely chooses to stand beside him.
