The Tournament of Power reaches a crucial stage in Dragon Ball Super when Universe 7 encounters Aniraza, the enormous warrior created by Universe 3’s remaining fighters. With the competition approaching its final battles, every elimination threatens to change the balance of power and bring another universe closer to erasure. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Frieza, Android 17, and Android 18 must work together to survive an opponent whose immense strength and destructive energy attacks put several fighters in danger at once.
The battle is especially significant because Universe 3 turns to its most desperate strategy after losing many of its competitors. By combining their power through Dr. Paparoni’s technology, the remaining warriors create Aniraza, hoping to overwhelm Universe 7 through sheer force. The confrontation tests the teamwork and fighting instincts of Universe 7, while setting the stage for one of the Tournament of Power’s most memorable eliminations.
Universe 7 vs. Aniraza: How the December Battle Unfolds
The showdown takes place in Episode 121 of Dragon Ball Super, which originally aired in Japan on December 24, 2017. After Universe 7 defeats Koiceareta, Dr. Paparoni reveals Universe 3’s ultimate strategy by merging with the remaining warriors to create Aniraza. The gigantic fighter possesses overwhelming strength, can distort space to launch unexpected attacks, and uses unusual sensory abilities to track his opponents. Even Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Frieza, Android 17, and Android 18 struggle to find an opening against him.
Aniraza’s attacks put Universe 7 at risk of losing several fighters at once. During the battle, Android 18 sacrifices herself to save Android 17 from falling out of the arena, leaving Universe 7 with five remaining competitors. Her elimination adds an emotional moment to a fight otherwise dominated by destructive energy blasts and coordinated attacks.
Universe 7 eventually realizes that Aniraza’s immense power has a weakness. Android 17 identifies the glowing energy reactor on the giant fighter’s forehead and uses his protective barrier to get close enough to damage it. With Aniraza weakened, the remaining Universe 7 fighters work together to knock him out of the arena, eliminating every remaining fighter from Universe 3.
The December battle is important because it clears the way for the Tournament of Power’s final confrontation between Universe 7 and Universe 11. It also highlights Android 17’s resourcefulness and shows how teamwork can overcome an opponent who initially appears almost unstoppable.
