The Dragon Ball Super Tournament of Power finale delivers a surprising victory that changes the fate of the multiverse. After an exhausting battle against Jiren, Goku and Frieza work together to push Universe 11’s strongest warrior out of the arena, while Android 17 provides crucial support. Although the final attack eliminates Goku, Frieza, and Jiren alongside one another, Android 17 is revealed as the last fighter standing, securing Universe 7’s victory.
As the tournament’s winner, Android 17 earns the right to make a wish using the Super Dragon Balls, which can grant an extraordinary wish on a multiversal scale. Rather than asking for personal wealth or the luxurious cruise ship he had previously mentioned, he chooses to restore the universes erased during the competition. His decision saves countless lives and reveals the deeper message behind the tournament: strength means little without compassion and responsibility toward others.
HOW ANDROID 17’S WISH RESTORES THE ERASED UNIVERSES
The final battle in Episode 131, “A Miraculous Conclusion! Farewell, Goku! Until We Meet Again!”, begins with Jiren pushing Universe 7 to the brink of defeat. Goku and Frieza combine their remaining strength to force Jiren out of bounds, and Android 17 helps them secure the victory. With the other fighters eliminated, Android 17 is declared the winner of the Tournament of Power and receives the opportunity to summon Super Shenron.
When the Grand Minister asks him to choose his wish, Android 17 initially hesitates. He eventually asks Super Shenron to restore all the universes erased during the Tournament of Power, including the inhabitants who disappeared when their universes were eliminated. Super Shenron grants the wish, bringing the erased universes back into existence and allowing their surviving characters to return to their homes.
The decision also fulfills Vegeta’s promise to Cabba. With Universe 6 restored, Cabba can reunite with Caulifla and Kale, while the other revived universes get a chance to rebuild their lives. Android 17’s wish therefore resolves the tournament’s central conflict without requiring the surviving universes to remain divided by the threat of erasure.
The Grand Minister reveals that the Zenos had anticipated a virtuous winner making a selfless wish. Had the winner chosen a selfish reward, the consequences could have been far worse, suggesting that the tournament tested the contestants’ character as well as their strength. Android 17’s compassion ultimately saves the multiverse and reinforces the series’ message that protecting others can be more important than personal victory.
