Dragon Ball Super expands the franchise’s world by introducing Universe 6, a parallel universe connected to Universe 7 through a unique cosmic relationship. Its arrival brings new characters, powerful rivals, and an unexpected revelation about the Saiyan race. Instead of sharing the same tragic history as Goku and Vegeta, Universe 6’s Saiyans continue to live on Planet Sadala, where they work as warriors and protect their home.

Universe 6 is ruled by Champa, the God of Destruction and Beerus’s twin brother, who often competes with his sibling over food, strength, and pride. His attendant, Vados, serves as both an adviser and a powerful guide, helping organize the tournament between the two universes. Through these characters and the Saiyans they introduce, Dragon Ball Super explores how different environments can shape similar races into very different people. The universe also becomes important during the Tournament of Power, when its warriors fight to protect their home from erasure.

How Champa, Vados, and Universe 6’s Saiyans Shape Dragon Ball Super

Champa’s rivalry with Beerus drives the introduction of Universe 6. After discovering that Universe 6’s Earth has been destroyed, Champa challenges Beerus to a tournament, with the winner gaining control of the other universe’s Earth. Champa assembles a team that includes Hit, Frost, Botamo, Auta Magetta, and Cabba, setting up the first major clash between warriors from the two universes.

Vados oversees Champa’s activities and serves as his Angel attendant. She is also Whis’s older sister, making her part of the same powerful angelic family that guides the Gods of Destruction. Although Vados often teases Champa about his habits, she is far stronger than the fighters competing in the tournament and helps prepare the arena for the matches. Her calm personality contrasts with Champa’s short temper and competitive nature.

The biggest revelation for Goku and Vegeta is the existence of Universe 6’s Saiyans. Cabba explains that his people live on Planet Sadala, which still exists in his universe, unlike the destroyed Saiyan homeworld associated with Universe 7’s history. These Saiyans are more peaceful and serve as protectors rather than living primarily as conquerors, giving Vegeta a chance to learn about a different branch of his race.

Cabba’s relationship with Vegeta becomes particularly important as the series progresses. Vegeta teaches Cabba how to transform into a Super Saiyan, while Cabba introduces him to the possibility of visiting Planet Sadala. Later, Caulifla and Kale expand the role of Universe 6’s Saiyans during the Tournament of Power, with Caulifla’s fearless personality and Kale’s immense hidden strength leading to their fusion into Kefla.

Universe 6 ultimately gives Dragon Ball Super a way to explore Saiyan culture beyond Goku and Vegeta. Champa and Vados add a new layer to the gods’ rivalry, while Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale demonstrate that the same warrior race can develop differently under different circumstances.
