The Yeagerists’ rise to power is one of the most significant political developments in Attack on Titan. What began as a small group of soldiers secretly supporting Eren Yeager eventually became a powerful faction capable of overthrowing Paradis Island’s existing military leadership. At the center of this transformation was Floch Forster, whose experiences during the battle to retake Shiganshina convinced him that ordinary soldiers could not protect Paradis from the outside world.

Eren’s increasingly extreme methods gave Floch and his followers a figure around whom they could unite, particularly after Eren was imprisoned for acting without military authorization. The situation escalated following the Raid on Liberio, when tensions between Eren and Paradis’ military leadership reached a breaking point. From there, the Yeagerists moved from secret supporters to armed revolutionaries, ultimately seizing control of the island.

How Eren and Floch Turned the Yeagerists Into Paradis’ Ruling Faction

Eren was the symbolic leader of the Yeagerists, but Floch became their de facto leader and organizer. After learning Eren’s true intentions regarding Zeke and the Founding Titan, Floch secretly recruited soldiers who believed that Eren was the only person capable of protecting Paradis. Their original objective was to bring Eren and Zeke together so that the Founding Titan’s power could be activated.

Floch’s ideology developed from his traumatic experience at Shiganshina, where he witnessed the enormous human cost of fighting the Titans. After learning about the world beyond the Walls, he became convinced that Paradis faced an existential threat and that extreme measures were necessary. This belief made him increasingly willing to accept civilian casualties and oppose former comrades who favored diplomacy.

The Yeagerists eventually escalated from political opposition to an outright military coup. They assassinated Commander Darius Zackly, helped Eren escape imprisonment, and began taking control of key military facilities. Their influence expanded rapidly as more soldiers and civilians rallied behind Eren, whom they viewed as the island’s only realistic protector.

After Eren activated the Rumbling, the Yeagerists effectively took control of Paradis. Floch demanded loyalty from the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers and later led the faction in defending the island’s harbor against the Survey Corps and their allies. His final stand came when he attempted to stop the group from reaching Eren, dying after pursuing their flying boat to Odiha.

Eren and Floch ultimately failed to achieve everything they wanted, but the Yeagerists survived Eren’s death as a political and military movement. Years later, they had become the foundation of a unified Eldian army, reflecting how completely their ideology had transformed Paradis’ political structure.
