Shō Aimoto’s Kemono Jihen manga is officially nearing its conclusion. The announcement was made with the release of Volume 25, confirming that the next collected volume will be the series’ final installment.

Kemono Jihen began serialization in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine in December 2016. Its final volume will bring almost 10 years of supernatural mystery, yokai battles and character-driven storytelling to a close.

The manga follows Inugami, a Tokyo detective specializing in occult cases, who encounters a strange boy named Dorotabo while investigating mysterious livestock deaths in a remote village. Dorotabo possesses unusual abilities connected to supernatural creatures, eventually drawing him into Inugami’s world.

Aimoto’s manga also inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered in January 2021. The English edition is published by Seven Seas Entertainment, which released Volume 21 in June 2026.

The series briefly paused for one issue in February 2026 after Aimoto revealed they had been dealing with gastroenteritis earlier in the year. The creator later confirmed that they were feeling better and planned to undergo an endoscopy.

With Volume 25 now available and Volume 26 confirmed as the conclusion, Kemono Jihen is entering its final stage after nearly a decade in Jump SQ.
