The story follows Akira Nitta, the eldest daughter of a family that once worked together to run an idol business. Akira handled costume design and sewing, her father managed the stage lighting, and her younger brother took care of the music. Her younger sister performed as the group’s idol.
Akira wanted those happy days to continue, but a series of unfortunate events eventually brought their shared dream to an end. Her life begins to change again when she encounters footage of an idol performance while working, reigniting her connection to the entertainment world.
The manga explores family relationships, creative ambitions, and the emotional challenges of pursuing a dream together.
Shogakukan released the fourth collected volume of Sister Resister on August 28, 2026. The publisher has scheduled the fifth volume for January 29, 2027, which will collect the manga’s concluding chapters. Details are available through Shogakukan’s official manga listing.
