Marriage Toxin Season 2 has officially revealed a new promotional video and key visual ahead of its return in January 2027. The upcoming season will continue the story of poison assassin Hikaru Gero and marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki as their unusual partnership enters its next stage.
The announcement follows the conclusion of the first season, which premiered on April 7, 2026, and ran for 13 episodes. The latest visual places Hikaru and Mei together on the bridge where they first crossed paths, with Hikaru holding his signature syringe while Mei carries a bouquet of flowers.
Marriage Toxin Season 2 Brings Back the Main Creative Team
The new promotional video revisits Hikaru’s journey from the first season while teasing more encounters with other Masters and the continuing search for his ideal marriage partner. The sequel will once again be produced by Bones Film, with Bones supervising production.
Motonobu Hori returns as director, while Kimiko Ueno handles series composition and scripts. Kōhei Tokuoka is also returning as character designer and chief animation director, with Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi once again composing the music.
The anime is based on the Marriage Toxin manga written by Jōmyaku and illustrated by Mizuki Yoda. The manga began serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service in April 2022 and reached its 18th compiled volume in Japan in July 2026.
The story centers on Hikaru Gero, an elite assassin and heir to one of the Five Great Poison Master families. After his family demands that his sister produce an heir, Hikaru decides to protect her by finding a suitable marriage partner. His solution leads him to Mei Kinosaki, a skilled marriage swindler who becomes his guide through the world of romance.
That premise gives the series its unusual combination of action, comedy and romance, with Hikaru’s expertise as an assassin contrasting sharply with his complete lack of experience with relationships.
The first season aired on Kansai TV and Fuji TV’s Ka-Anival!! programming block, while Crunchyroll streamed the series internationally. Season 2 will continue in the same programming block when it premieres in January 2027.
The new visual and trailer suggest that Hikaru’s search for a bride will continue alongside encounters with more members of the dangerous Masters. With the original staff returning and plenty of manga material available, the second season is positioned to continue the distinctive blend of supernatural assassination battles and romantic comedy that established the series.
