The upcoming My Girlfriend’s Friend anime is gearing up for its October 2026 debut with several major updates. Based on Jura’s manga serialized through Kodansha’s YanMaga Web, the series follows Takeru Hidaka as his first relationship becomes complicated when his girlfriend Kaori’s friend Tomoko begins pursuing him. The latest announcement confirms two additional voice cast members alongside the release of a new promotional video and key visual.

The series will premiere on Tokyo MX on October 4 at 25:05, meaning the broadcast technically airs in the early hours of October 5. BS11 will follow with its broadcast on October 7, while the uncut “Complete Deregula” version will stream through AnimeFesta from October 5.

New Cast, Theme Songs and What to Expect From My Girlfriend’s Friend

Riho Sugiyama joins the cast as Miyuki, a junior member of the swimming club who looks up to Tomoko. Ryōka Yuzuki will voice Kaori’s mother, adding two new characters to the central romantic conflict. The previously announced main cast includes Ryūga Nagaike as Takeru, Sayahana Hanemurasaki as Kaori, and Miki Hase as Tomoko.

The promotional video also previews the anime’s opening theme, “Gingira,” performed by Airots. Ceui performs the ending song, “False Love,” with both tracks designed to complement the complicated emotions surrounding the characters. The official My Girlfriend’s Friend website describes the series as a story of forbidden romantic tension, while the newly released material further emphasizes its mature tone.

Takashi Andō directs the adaptation at animation studio Quad, with Gokō Shiraki handling series composition and scripts and Ryūji Iwata working on character designs. The anime is being produced under WWWave Corporation’s Deregula label, which is also behind its streaming distribution.

Jura’s manga began serialization on YanMaga Web in May 2021, and Kodansha released its seventh collected volume in July 2026. With the television adaptation now scheduled for October 4, My Girlfriend’s Friend is positioned as one of the more provocative romance titles arriving in the Fall 2026 anime season.
