Noelle Silva’s bond with Undine is one of the most important power developments in Black Clover, particularly during the Spade Kingdom Raid. The relationship begins unexpectedly after Undine is separated from Princess Lolopechka, her longtime partner and the ruler of the Heart Kingdom. Rather than disappearing, the Water Spirit transfers herself into Noelle’s grimoire because Noelle possesses the qualities necessary to become her new host.
Their partnership initially seems unlikely, as both Noelle and Undine have strong personalities and are not immediately comfortable working together. However, their shared goal of saving Lolopechka gives them a reason to overcome their differences. The bond eventually allows Noelle to access Spirit Dive and the powerful Saint Stage, making her capable of confronting enemies connected to devil power. Their partnership also becomes an important part of Noelle’s growth as both a warrior and a person.
How Noelle and Undine’s Bond Unlocks Saint Stage
Undine had served the Heart Kingdom’s royal family for generations before becoming Lolopechka’s partner. When Megicula’s curse weakened Undine and disrupted her contract with Lolopechka, the Water Spirit moved into Noelle’s grimoire to recover her strength. Noelle was considered a suitable host because of her enormous magical potential and ability to use Water Magic.
The partnership becomes especially important because Undine knows about Saint Stage, a powerful state available to Spirit Hosts. When a spirit and its host achieve a high level of resonance, the resulting power can purify malice and damage devils, giving Noelle an ability specifically suited to fighting the Dark Triad and Megicula. This makes Undine more than a simple source of additional magical power.
Noelle and Undine then combine their abilities through Spirit Dive: Saint Valkyrie Dress. The transformation merges Noelle’s Valkyrie armor with Undine’s Spirit Magic, giving her greater magical power, mobility, and an enhanced weapon while allowing her to use Saint Stage. The form becomes crucial during Noelle’s battle against Vanica, where she is able to overwhelm the Dark Triad member before Megicula emerges.
Their relationship also has an emotional purpose. Undine admits that she deliberately kept Saint Stage from Lolopechka because she wanted to protect the princess’s gentle nature, while Noelle helps her understand that kindness was not a mistake. Their temporary partnership therefore represents more than a power-up, as Noelle and Undine learn to trust each other while fighting to rescue Lolopechka.
