The Pokémon franchise has revealed a new teaser for Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, the upcoming stop-motion series created in collaboration with Aardman. The series is set to premiere globally on Disney+ in 2027, while Disney XD will also air it on television.
The announcement was made during PokémonXP and forms part of a global distribution deal between Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International. The official Pokémon website confirmed that the new series will follow its two Pokémon heroes on an adventure through the Galar region.
Aardman Brings Its Signature Stop-Motion Style to Pokémon
The series will center on Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they travel through Galar on a quest to help and protect Pokémon across the region. Their missions do not always go according to plan, but their adventures gradually strengthen their friendship while bringing them into contact with rivals, dangers and new allies.
The Galar setting is especially fitting for Aardman, the British studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. The official Disney+ announcement revealed that the show will be directed by Tom Parkinson, with Nat McKay as creative director and James Young as model-making creative lead.
Phil Rynda, Pokémon’s director of original animation, said the stories are made even more exciting through Aardman’s filmmaking approach.
“Aardman has brought Galar to life in a way that makes you feel like you can smell the air, touch the tree bark, and want to adventure alongside our series heroes.”
Pokémon Tales will offer another stop-motion take on the franchise following Netflix’s Pokémon Concierge, but the Aardman production will introduce fans to a new Pokémon-focused adventure when it arrives in 2027.
