The Remarried Empress is getting a television anime adaptation scheduled to premiere in 2027, Crunchyroll announced at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026. Japanese animation studio TROYCA will produce the series, bringing the popular romantic fantasy webtoon to the screen after its success with readers worldwide.
The anime adapts the webtoon created by HereLee and SUMPUL, which is based on Alphatart’s original web novel. Its central story follows Navier, the Empress of the Eastern Empire, whose seemingly perfect marriage falls apart when her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, plans to replace her with his mistress, Rashta. Rather than accept her diminished position, Navier seeks a divorce and resolves to become empress elsewhere.
The main voice cast includes Yōko Hikasa as Navier, Ryōhei Kimura as Heinrey, Tomoaki Maeno as Sovieshu, and Reina Ueda as Rashta. The announcement introduces the first major details about the anime’s production, although further information about its broadcast schedule remains unconfirmed.
Tetsuya Yanagisawa, known for directing Berserk of Gluttony and High School DxD, will direct the adaptation at TROYCA. Akiko Inoue is handling series composition and scripts, while Jun Nakai is responsible for character designs. Yūki Fukazawa will compose the anime’s music.
The webtoon has accumulated more than 2.97 billion views worldwide and has been translated into 10 languages, reflecting its international popularity. Its original run concluded in January 2026 after seven years, with additional side stories planned for release in fall 2026.
The English-language webtoon remains available on WEBTOON, while Ize Press publishes the series in print. A separate live-action adaptation is also scheduled to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on November 4, 2026.
