Takuma Sakai’s The Science Notes by Delta and Gamma is officially getting an anime adaptation. The announcement was made during the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival Online 2026, confirming that the light novel series will make the jump to television animation.
The series, also known as Delta to Gamma no Rigakubu Note, combines high school mysteries, science, romance, and everyday school life. While the anime has been confirmed, details such as its release date, animation studio, staff, and full voice cast have not yet been announced.
The Science Notes by Delta and Gamma Anime Announcement
The announcement included a promotional video featuring Kanna Nakamura as Rio Iwama. The video also uses artwork from original light novel illustrator Asagi Tōsaka, giving fans an early look at the anime project.
The manga adaptation’s artist, Lap Tsutsumi, also celebrated the anime announcement with a special illustration. The manga began serialization in Kadokawa’s Comic Dengeki DaiohG in April 2026.
The Science Notes by Delta and Gamma follows students at Tsunaga High School who use scientific methods to investigate unusual mysteries surrounding their daily lives.
The story centers on first-year student Sho Izuta, who becomes involved with the school’s science club and works alongside Rio Iwama and other students. One early mystery involves a pair of cherry trees said to form a heart shape and supposedly bring romance to students who see them together.
The series uses these investigations to explore both scientific curiosity and the characters’ relationships, including the development of first love.
Written by Takuma Sakai with illustrations by Asagi Tōsaka, the light novel series began publication under Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint in November 2024. The fourth volume is scheduled for release in Japan on October 9, 2026.
A manga adaptation illustrated by Lap Tsutsumi began in April 2026, giving the franchise another format ahead of its anime debut.
