The Summer Hikaru Died manga is officially approaching its conclusion. Mokumokuren’s horror series will end after two more chapters, bringing the story of Yoshiki and the mysterious being resembling his deceased friend Hikaru to a close in October.
The announcement came through the manga’s official X account on September 1, confirming that Chapter 50 will be released on October 13, followed by Chapter 51 on October 20.
The Summer Hikaru Died Manga Finale Sets October Release Dates
The final chapter schedule means readers have only two installments left before The Summer Hikaru Died reaches its planned ending. Chapter 50 is scheduled for October 13, while Chapter 51 will serve as the manga’s series finale one week later.
The series began serialization on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up platform in August 2021 and has grown into a major horror manga success.
Mokumokuren previously revealed that the manga was planned to span 10 volumes, making the upcoming ending consistent with that earlier plan. The series had also surpassed 3 million copies in circulation by the release of its sixth volume, highlighting its popularity before its conclusion.
The story follows Yoshiki, a teenager whose childhood friend Hikaru returns after disappearing in the mountains. Although the entity looks and behaves like Hikaru, Yoshiki realizes that something else has taken his friend’s place, creating the unsettling mystery at the heart of the series. Yen Press publishes the official English edition.
The manga’s ending also comes as its anime adaptation continues to expand the franchise. The television anime premiered in July 2025, while a second season is currently in production.
