Ulti became one of the most popular Tobiroppo members because of her chaotic personality and overwhelming aggression. Page One served as one of the physically strongest members of the Flying Six despite his relatively calm personality compared to Ulti. During the war itself, Page One fought multiple opponents before eventually being defeated by Big Mom. Although his role was smaller than some other Flying Six members, his durability highlighted how dangerous Kaido’s officers truly were. His partnership with Ulti also helped make the Tobiroppo feel more interconnected as a group rather than isolated fighters.
Sasaki Explained: The Armored Triceratops Warrior
Sasaki stood out among the Flying Six because of his imposing design and old-school pirate personality. Before the raid, Sasaki appeared loyal to Kaido, but his interactions with Kyoshiro hinted that he maintained independent ambitions within the Beasts Pirates hierarchy. Like several Tobiroppo members, he also hoped to challenge the All-Stars and rise higher within the crew.
Sasaki wielded the Ancient Zoan Dragon-Dragon Fruit Model Triceratops, which allowed him to transform into a heavily armored dinosaur capable of powerful spinning attacks. Eiichiro Oda used Sasaki’s unusual combat techniques to continue the Wano Arc’s blend of intense action and absurd humor. The bizarre spinning triceratops attacks became one of the most memorable visual gags during the raid.
His battle against Franky became a major moment for Franky’s character. Franky Shogun suffered severe damage during the fight, forcing Franky to rely on his own combat abilities more directly. The victory reinforced Franky’s importance within the Straw Hats while also showing how dangerous the Flying Six truly were in direct combat.
Black Maria Explained: The Most Manipulative Flying Six Member
Black Maria became one of the most distinctive Tobiroppo members because of her manipulative personality and unsettling combat style. Black Maria possessed an Ancient Zoan spider-type Devil Fruit that transformed her into a massive hybrid creature capable of controlling webs and fire-based attacks. Her environment inside Onigashima also reflected her manipulative style, as she turned her territory into a deadly trap for enemies.
Her fight against Nico Robin became one of the emotional highlights of the raid. Robin’s Demonio Fleur transformation represented a major evolution for her character and symbolized her willingness to become “a demon” for the sake of protecting her friends. Black Maria’s cruelty and manipulation made Robin’s victory especially impactful for longtime fans.
X Drake Explained: The Secret Marine Among the Flying Six
X Drake was arguably the most unusual member of the Flying Six because he secretly worked as a Marine captain within the covert SWORD organization. Although he operated publicly as a pirate and Worst Generation captain, Drake infiltrated the Beasts Pirates to gather intelligence on Kaido’s operations.
Drake’s Ancient Zoan Allosaurus Devil Fruit made him an extremely dangerous combatant capable of matching high-level opponents physically. However, his true importance came from his shifting loyalties during the raid. Once exposed as a traitor, Drake abandoned the Beasts Pirates and eventually allied temporarily with Luffy and the samurai forces.
His presence within the Tobiroppo also revealed how unstable Kaido’s crew truly was beneath its overwhelming power. Several Flying Six members had personal ambitions, hidden agendas, or questionable loyalty toward Kaido. Drake represented the clearest example of this internal instability during the war.
By the end of the raid, the Flying Six had largely been defeated, but their battles helped define the scale and intensity of the Onigashima conflict. Together with Yamato, they played major roles in transforming the Wano Arc into one of One Piece’s biggest and most ambitious storylines.
Another important aspect of these characters is how they collectively highlight the layered structure of Beasts Pirates during the Wano Arc. While Kaido and the All-Stars represented overwhelming top-tier power, the Flying Six acted as the backbone that sustained the crew’s dominance across Onigashima.
At the same time, Yamato stood in direct contrast to that structure, proving that even within Kaido’s own ranks, rebellion was possible.
