s officially been renewed for Season 2 following the broadcast of its first-season finale in Japan on September 25, 2026. The announcement arrived immediately after Episode 12 aired, confirming that Shin-Ei Animation’s adaptation of Minoru Toyoda’s acclaimed manga will continue.
The second season was announced through the anime’s official channels alongside a new visual featuring protagonist Ai Yasumi and her imaginary companion Pokota. However, a release date and additional production details have not yet been revealed.
Draw This, Then Die! Season 2 Continues Ai’s Manga Journey
The anime follows Ai Yasumi, a first-year high school student living on Izu Ōshima who has loved reading manga since childhood. After an encounter that changes her perspective on the medium, Ai begins learning what it actually takes to create manga and eventually forms a manga research club with other aspiring creators.
The first season aired for 12 episodes from July 3 through September 25 on Nippon Television’s Friday Anime Night programming block. Crunchyroll also streamed the series internationally as part of its 2026 anime lineup.
The Season 2 announcement comes as the story reaches an important point for Ai and her friends. The first season’s finale centered on Ai and Kokoro Fujimori bringing their collaborative manga Hoshi no Uta to a professional editorial department at Comitia. The experience forces Ai to confront difficult questions about her ambitions and whether she truly wants to pursue manga professionally.
Creator Minoru Toyoda also celebrated the Season 2 announcement. According to MANTANWEB official report, Toyoda expressed surprise and excitement over the decision, saying he had not expected the anime to receive another season. He also indicated that he is particularly looking forward to seeing material connected to the Manga Koshien competition adapted.
The manga has already earned major recognition, winning the 2023 Manga Taisho and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award. Those accolades helped establish Draw This, Then Die! as one of Minoru Toyoda’s most acclaimed works before its television adaptation.
