Vegeta Keeps His Promise to CaDragon Ball Super: Vegeta’s Promise to Cabba and Their Saiyan Bond Explainedbba: How Their Bond Changes Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Powe

Vegeta is known for his pride, fierce competitiveness, and refusal to show weakness, but his relationship with Cabba reveals a different side of his personality in Dragon Ball Super. During the Tournament of Power, the Universe 7 Saiyan Prince saves his Universe 6 student from elimination and reminds him of their promise to visit Planet Sadala. With the tournament threatening to erase entire universes, Cabba fears that neither of them will get the chance to fulfill that promise.

Vegeta responds with an unexpected declaration. If Universe 7 wins, he will use the Super Dragon Balls to restore Universe 6 and its inhabitants, ensuring Cabba can keep his word. This moment goes beyond their teacher-student relationship, showing that Vegeta has begun to care about Saiyans outside his own universe. His promise also gives Cabba renewed confidence, proving that Vegeta’s influence extends beyond teaching him how to fight.

HOW VEGETA’S PROMISE TO CABBA CHANGES THE TOURNAMENT OF POWER

The promise takes center stage in Episode 112, titled “A Saiyan Oath! Vegeta’s Resolve!” Cabba struggles against Monna, a powerful warrior from Universe 4, and nearly falls out of the arena. Vegeta catches him before he can be eliminated, then challenges him to remember his commitment to show Vegeta Planet Sadala, the home of Universe 6’s Saiyans. When Cabba explains that the destruction of one universe will make their promise impossible, Vegeta declares that he will bring Universe 6 back if he wins.

The decision highlights how much Vegeta has changed since his early days as a ruthless Saiyan warrior. Once driven almost entirely by personal pride and the desire to surpass Goku, he now accepts responsibility for people who are not even part of his own universe. His promise also reflects his connection to Saiyan heritage, as the survival of Planet Sadala gives him a chance to learn more about a branch of his race that escaped the fate of the Saiyans in Universe 7.

Cabba draws strength from Vegeta’s words and returns to battle with renewed determination. When Monna insults the Saiyans and threatens Vegeta, Cabba pushes beyond his limits and achieves Super Saiyan 2, defeating her and proving how much he has learned from his mentor. Although Frieza later eliminates Cabba from the tournament, the young Saiyan’s growth demonstrates that Vegeta’s guidance has made a lasting difference.

The promise also adds emotional weight to Vegeta’s own fight for survival. Winning the Tournament of Power is no longer just about proving himself stronger than Goku or defeating powerful opponents. It becomes a chance to protect another universe’s Saiyans and honor the bond he has formed with Cabba, making their relationship one of the arc’s most memorable developments.
