Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has received a new sneak peek ahead of its Netflix premiere, giving fans a brief look at an intense escape involving the powerful Arasaka corporation. The footage offers another glimpse at the anime’s darker direction while introducing the new characters at the center of its standalone story.
The sequel is being developed by CD PROJEKT RED and Studio TRIGGER, the teams behind the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The new series will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 20, 2026, with all 10 episodes forming a separate story from David Martinez and Lucy’s journey.
Edgerunners 2 Teases a Dangerous Arasaka Mission
The latest footage focuses on an escape from an Arasaka facility, once again placing the megacorporation at the center of the chaos surrounding Night City’s inhabitants. While the teaser does not reveal the circumstances behind the sequence, it suggests that the new protagonists will become entangled with some of the city’s most dangerous corporate interests.
Unlike the first anime, Edgerunners 2 follows an entirely new group of characters. The story centers on Weak, a washed-up cyberpunk legend forced to live without chrome, and D, a deadly nomad pursuing revenge that brings him dangerously close to corporate secrets.
The official synopsis describes the series as a story about “family, obsession, legacy” and the ways people construct and perceive stories in Night City.
Kai Ikarashi is directing Edgerunners 2 in his directorial debut after previously working on the original anime as a storyboard artist, animation director, animator and prop designer. Bartosz Sztybor returns as a writer and producer, while Ichigo Kanno serves as lead character designer.
The new cast includes Momoka Terasawa as Roman Carax, Akari Kitō as Talia Yang, Kōki Uchiyama as D and Kentarō Tone as Weak Kingsley.
