The Crunchyroll Store has undergone a major change, and physical manga and light novels are no longer available through the online storefront. The update, which took effect alongside Crunchyroll’s planned August revamp, has also removed physical editions of Korean manhwa and Chinese danmei titles from the store.

The development comes shortly after Crunchyroll announced that its store would transition into a new shopping experience exclusively available to Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscribers. The company says the redesigned store will focus on collectibles, curated product drops and Crunchyroll-exclusive merchandise.

Crunchyroll Store Shifts Away From Its Former Book Selection

The disappearance of manga and light novels marks a significant change for a store that previously offered a broad selection of physical anime and manga products. Customers could find manga volumes, light novels, manhwa, danmei, Blu-rays, figures, apparel and other collectibles in one location.

Crunchyroll’s official announcement does not specifically state that physical manga and light novels are being permanently discontinued from the platform. Instead, the company describes the new store as a curated experience centered on collectibles, limited releases and exclusive merchandise.

The change also follows Crunchyroll’s acquisition of Right Stuf in 2022. Right Stuf’s storefront was subsequently phased out, with its products migrated to Crunchyroll in October 2023. That move had effectively made Crunchyroll a much broader destination for physical anime and manga purchases.

The revamped Crunchyroll Store is being positioned as a benefit for higher-tier subscribers rather than a traditional online retailer. Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan members are expected to receive access to the new shopping experience, which Crunchyroll says will feature products inspired by anime series and the atmosphere of convention-exclusive merchandise.

Crunchyroll also previously offered store discounts to premium members, although those benefits ended on August 14, 2026, ahead of the transition. Existing orders are still being processed, and Crunchyroll says customers will retain access to their order histories and support for outstanding orders.

The company’s broader digital strategy has also expanded with the Crunchyroll Manga service, which launched in the United States and Canada in 2025. The service provides digital manga separately from Crunchyroll’s main anime streaming catalog.

For now, the removal of physical manga and light novels leaves questions about whether those products could return in the future. Crunchyroll has not publicly confirmed that the categories are gone permanently, making the company’s eventual plans for physical books worth watching.
