Lucifero’s defeat in Black Clover is not simply the result of Asta becoming stronger than the King of Devils. During the Spade Kingdom Raid, Lucifero overwhelms almost every Magic Knight who challenges him, using his Gravity Magic and immense physical strength to make even powerful captains struggle to survive. Asta’s Anti-Magic gives the heroes their most effective weapon, but even that power is not enough by itself.

The Black Bulls and other Magic Knights repeatedly protect Asta, create openings, and keep him alive long enough to continue fighting. Asta and Liebe eventually achieve a deeper synchronization that allows them to completely negate magic through physical contact. Even then, their Devil Union has a strict time limit, leaving the final confrontation dependent on teamwork. Yami, Nacht, and Yuno ultimately provide the crucial assistance that lets Asta land the decisive blow.

How Asta and His Allies Finally Overcame Lucifero

The battle initially appears hopeless because Lucifero is vastly stronger than almost everyone present. Asta discovers that his Anti-Magic can actually hurt the devil, prompting the Magic Knight captains to protect him while he recovers and prepares another attack. Mereoleona, Nozel, Fuegoleon, Dorothy, Charlotte, Jack, and Rill all contribute to keeping Lucifero occupied, but their combined attacks cannot defeat him.

Asta and Liebe eventually push their Devil Union further by synchronizing their thoughts and desires. Their connection allows Anti-Magic to completely negate magical effects through what they touch, making Lucifero’s normally devastating attacks much less effective. Asta then uses the Demon-Slasher Katana and his other weapons to cut through Lucifero, severely damaging the devil before their Union reaches its time limit.

However, Lucifero survives and attempts to finish Asta and Liebe with another overwhelming use of Gravity Magic. Yami and Nacht rise despite their injuries, with Nacht’s Black Moon helping neutralize Lucifero’s gravity and giving Asta another opportunity to stand. This moment demonstrates why the victory belongs to the entire group rather than Asta alone.

Yami and Nacht’s intervention allows Asta to prepare for one final attack, while Yuno uses Star Magic to prevent Lucifero from escaping. Yuno teleports Lucifero directly back toward Asta, who brings the Demon-Slayer Sword down and destroys the devil’s remaining horn, knocking him unconscious. Lucifero’s defeat is therefore the result of Asta’s Anti-Magic combined with the sacrifices, protection, and abilities of his allies.
