Yukino Sonoyama’s Bless manga is getting a live-action adaptation, with Naniwa Danshi member Ryusei Onishi set to lead the Prime Original drama as Aia. Prime Video announced that the series will stream exclusively in more than 240 countries and territories in spring 2027.
Based on Sonoyama’s ongoing manga, the story follows former model Aia, who once dreamed of becoming a makeup artist, and high school student Jun, who hopes to become a model despite being bullied because of her freckles. Their journey through the fashion and beauty industry explores self-expression, identity, and the meaning of beauty.
Onishi prepared for the role by visiting Shiseido’s SABFA makeup academy before filming, while Shiseido’s Beauty Creation Center is overseeing the production’s makeup. Izuru Kumasaka and Maki Tomita are directing, with Satoko Okazaki and Ichiro Kusuno handling the scripts.
Kodansha USA describes the manga as a story about two young people who “take back the power to define themselves” while challenging the idea that beauty and talent matter more than hard work.
Bless debuted in 2022 and has since moved from Shonen Magazine Edge to Monthly Shonen Sirius. The manga has more than 1.25 million copies in circulation, and its ninth Japanese volume is scheduled for release on October 8, 2026. A separate TV anime adaptation from A-1 Pictures is also planned for 2027.
