The official website for The Prince of Tennis anime has shared new details for the upcoming sequel to The Prince of Tennis II U-17 WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL. Titled The Prince of Tennis II U-17 WORLD CUP: Final Member Selection Match, the new installment is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2026 and will continue the road toward the U-17 World Cup finals.

Alongside the announcement, the production team released the third teaser visual, highlighting Keigo Atobe and Yushi Oshitari. While the pair are teammates at Hyotei Academy Middle School Tennis Club, they now find themselves competing against each other for a coveted place in Japan’s final U-17 World Cup squad. The visual carries the tagline, “For the moon and the sun to continue shining together—,” emphasizing the emotional rivalry between the longtime teammates.

Yu Shirota Joins the Voice Cast as Romeo Fernandez

The sequel also welcomes Yu Shirota as Romeo Fernandez, a member of Spain’s national tennis team. Although Shirota is no stranger to The Prince of Tennis franchise, this marks his first television anime voice acting role.

Shirota previously portrayed Kunimitsu Tezuka in the franchise’s stage musicals between 2005 and 2006, as well as in the 2006 live-action film. Speaking through the anime’s official website, he reflected on returning to the series in a new role:

“In the past, I played the role of Kunimitsu Tezuka in the musical, but this time I will be participating in the anime for the first time as Romeo Fernandez. I’ll try to give it my absolute best to convey the charm of this character and the passion of the Spanish national team through my voice, so please look forward to it.”

Meanwhile, the ending theme, “Kinkanshoku phenomenal,” will be performed by Keigo Atobe (Junichi Suwabe) and Yushi Oshitari (Hidenobu Kiuchi). Both tracks were written specifically for the new anime and debuted alongside their opening and ending sequences during The Prince of Tennis Anime Series 25th Anniversary Special, which streamed on the franchise’s official YouTube channel.
